Our Systems Approach
Our approach is based upon systems thinking methodologies and has been developed in collaboration with experts from industry, government, academia and the charitable sector.
It recognises that all of the organisations, processes and influential factors across the entire pharmaceutical life cycle are interconnected and interdependent. They are part of large, complex societal systems.
These pharmaceutical systems are deep-rooted in our society and difficult to change. No single organisation can do it alone.
Our mission is to co-ordinate and support action at intervention points across entire systems
The complexity of pharmaceutical systems means that to drive real-world change we need to act together, to collectively transform entire systems.
Our research has identified a series of intervention points to target for transforming the UK healthcare pharmaceutical system. These intervention points address multiple depths of the system - from the everyday operational and regulatory structures to the deep-rooted cultural drivers.
See our published research paper analysing the UK healthcare pharmaceutical system.
Our vision is to create sustainable pharmaceutical systems
Our research shows that the risks of pharmaceutical pollution are a consequence of unsustainable pharmaceutical systems.
We want to help build sustainable pharmaceutical systems that provide a positive future for the whole of society - for generations to come.
Our vision is to create sustainable pharmaceutical systems that support healthy populations and prosperous biotechnology sectors whilst protecting and restoring the environment upon which we all depend.
